Some strange land...
This one obviously has a million-and-one deep psycho-sociological meanings and would haunt the viewer for all of eternity if I delved into that world of definition. Therefore, I will refrain...
Enjoy!

Album artwork?
Been working on paintings for my band's album which we'll be recording sometime this summer. This big one (2'x4') will be on display at the "Speaking in Tongues" group art show opening this Friday, June 3, 6-10pm at Black Vulture Gallery (where I work..). Dan Tag is currently building a fancy custom frame for it, I'm stoked to see it complete.
Sketches
I picked up my first sketchbook in 5 years before my last trip. Managed to scribble out a few weird ideas..
Friend portraits?
I had this bright idea to paint some taunted friends' portraits. Portraits aren't quite my forte, and it got a little boring, but I did enjoy making some little guys bothering the crap out of them. These were the two I did before the concept got old...
Start it off with my guitar (how else?)
Neal Moser, of Neal Moser Guitars hand built my Basilisk guitar in 2009. This guitar was a design I made, originally in my 3rd painting in my heavy metal series. I built an original prototype with Kevin Riley, using a pre-made neck-thru body blank (I'm no luthier, but cutting and shaping the body was fun). I switched the design around in the painting and that was the basis of the stencil I sent Neal. He built it with the expertise that only a 40-year veteran luthier can do. Plays like a dream. Can't wait for my 7-string version...
(Did I mention you can order a custom built Basilisk from Neal Moser Guitars? Contact Neal on his site for details.)

The painting from which it came...
and my original version, a bit different and less slick...
